Assessment of the eleven Functional Health Patterns of Tohono- o’odham Nation, Arizona Values/ Belief Pattern †¢ The ethnical and cultural groups in Tucson are:- †¢ Tohono o’odham-24,000 people †¢ Lives in 4 reservations:- â€Å"Main† Reservation -Florence Village -San Xavier -San Lucy Other members also live in Mexico. †¢ Nation’s capital is in Sells Community †¢ Speaks several different dialects †¢ Religion – They are mainly Catholics, however they still acknowledge and practice â€Å"Hamdage† –way of life. †¢ Members work in Tohono- O’odham nation, Federal jobs and in local industries in Tucson and Phoenix. †¢Ã¢â‚¬ ¦show more content†¦Ã¢â‚¬ ¢ Fast food stores available every where and food cheap and affordable which explains the reason for obesity. †¢ Education on diet, food pyramid taught in schools and health eating habits encouraged. †¢ Elimination (Environmental Health Concerns) †¢ Provided by Tohono O’odham Utility Authority (T OUA) †¢ Services includes water and sewer services †¢ Water quality testing I done at Onsite water testing onsite laboratory †¢ They have 3,209 water customers, and 1,676 sewer customers. †¢ Environmental allergies are high especially during spring when flowers are blooming. †¢ Onsite Disposal (Septic) Program deals with water waste management. †¢ Household hazardous Waste program available through TOUA Activity/ Exercise †¢ Tohono O’odham Community Action(TOCA) is very active in promoting physical activities through Tohono-O’odham food and fitness collaboration †¢ TOCA- promotes physical, spiritual, cultural and economic awareness †¢ School children are taught about traditional food and participate in physical activities. †¢ Y.O.U.T.H (Young O’odham United Through Health- Motivates, inspire and empower youth.
